The Peach Flower Island Project
TEA FROM CERTIFIED ORGANIC CULTIVATION
On the unique island known as Peach Flower Island, a project for the cultivation of certified organic tea was launched some time ago. The island is part of the Zhoushan Archipelago in China's Zhejiang Province.
The remoteness of the island from any industrial activity is one of the greatest strengths of this project. Thanks to the fertile soil in the tea gardens and the old tea bushes — which have been cultivated for more than 40 years without any synthetic fertilizers or pesticides — the conditions for a successful organic project are ideal.
Through a long-term partnership between the Chinese producers and our company, the foundation for a strictly certified organic tea project has been laid step by step in recent years. A dedicated tea factory was built for this purpose, equipped with both state-of-the-art machinery and traditional woks to process the high-quality teas harvested on the island.
A large part of the island’s population is involved in this project and strongly identifies with the continued development of organic cultivation. In spring, the finest and most exquisite teas — such as Superior Lung Ching and the regionally renowned Buddhist Tea — are produced by hand.
The very first teas of the season command high prices on the world market due to their exceptional aroma. All teas from Peach Flower Island are highly valued by tea connoisseurs around the globe, as few other projects produce such a wide variety of top-quality teas.
As the harvest season progresses, other teas are also produced, including:
-
Gunpowder
-
Yunwu
-
Chun Mee
-
Sencha
-
Tian Mu
-
Lung Ching
-
Buddhist Tea
Thanks to the island’s excellent geographical location and its resulting mild climate, the quality of the tea leaves is outstanding. The flavor of the teas produced here is delicate, fragrant, and aromatic — noticeably different from teas grown on the mainland.
